Where our money comes from
One source of income, described as it is today, without anything that is not yet in place.
Whitecap Dunes Review is an independent site about one hotel, Dakota Dunes Resort, and it has one way of earning money: booking commissions on room requests. Every page carries a form for asking about a room. When a request sent through that form leads to a confirmed stay, the hotel or the booking partner that completes the reservation may pay this site a commission. The guest does not pay anything extra for using the form, and the price quoted to a guest is the price the hotel or partner offers for those dates.
- 1A request arrivesSomeone fills in the form on any page of the site with dates, the number of guests and a room preference.
- 2The desk checksThe site's room desk checks availability and price with the hotel's reservations team or with a booking partner.
- 3An answer by emailThe desk writes back with what is available. Sending the form books nothing and no card details are collected on this site.
- 4The guest decidesIf the guest accepts, the reservation is made and confirmed by the hotel or the booking partner under their own terms.
- 5A commission, sometimesIf the stay is confirmed, the hotel or partner may pay this site a commission. If it is not, nobody pays anything.
What is not here
At the time of writing, no advertising network and no affiliate network is connected to this site. There are no advertising slots, no tracking links and no sponsored articles. Links to the resort's own website go to its pages without referral codes. No casino operator or gambling company pays this site, and the site does not promote gambling; the casino next to the hotel is described only because it shares the building.
Neither Whitecap Dakota Nation nor Dakota Dunes Resort nor the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority has paid for coverage, reviewed the text before publication or asked for changes. The review would read the same if no request were ever sent.
If this changes
If the site later adds advertising or joins an affiliate programme, this page will say so before the first such link appears, and any paid link will be labelled as one. Commissions will never decide what the review says about the hotel.
The costs of running it
The site is a set of static pages on a rented server, with a domain name, illustrations generated for it and the time it takes to read the resort's pages and keep this guide current. The details of the domain registration and hosting are printed at the bottom of every page.
