Arrival, deposits and the fine print

Everything in this page comes from the resort's FAQ, room pages and notices, as read on 31 October 2026.

Policies are the least interesting part of any hotel and the part most likely to cause a bad surprise. Dakota Dunes Resort publishes most of them clearly in its FAQ. They are collected here in the order a stay unfolds, from booking to the last hour on the property.

  1. Booking
A card guarantees the reservationA valid credit card is required to guarantee a booking, even for guests who intend to pay cash on arrival. A 3% Resort Marketing Fee is added at the time of booking; the resort says it supports tourism marketing, guest experiences and the growth of the Whitecap Dakota community.
  2. Changes
Cancellation windowsStandard bookings can be cancelled without penalty up to 24 hours before arrival. Packages need 72 hours. Advance purchase rates are non-cancellable, non-refundable, non-modifiable and non-transferable. Changes go through the resort by phone at 306-668-1888 or by email to info@dakotadunesresort.com.
  3. 15:00
Check-inRooms are guaranteed for 3:00 pm. Guests may arrive earlier and use the facilities while they wait.
  4. At desk
Payment and depositThe full cost of the stay is paid at check-in, together with a refundable deposit for incidentals: $500 for rooms and $750 for suites. VISA, MasterCard and American Express are accepted, as are debit and cash, except for prepaid offers.
  5. During
Living with the rulesAll rooms, suites and public areas are non-smoking; there is a designated smoking area outside the hotel and a smoking room inside the casino. Wi-Fi is free throughout. Towels and robes are provided.
  6. 11:00
Check-outCheck-out is at 11:00 am, and guests keep access to the site for the rest of the day. A later check-out costs $20 plus tax per hour, when available on the day.

Dogs

The resort describes all guest rooms on the second floor as pet-friendly. Two dogs are accepted per room, of any size, and each one is given a bed, food and water bowls and a bag of treats. A cleaning fee of $50 per dog per stay is added to the bill. Cats, birds, reptiles, ferrets and other animals are not accepted. A Paw-some Pet Stay add-on with bowls, treats, a blanket and the pet deposit can be bought for $80 through reservations, as posted on 31 October 2026.

Parking and the works out front

The casino's getting-here page describes free parking on site. The resort's own pages do not list a parking fee. On 13 October 2026 the resort announced that the parking lot in front of the hotel entrance is under construction as part of improvements to the guest experience; check-in through the front lobby remains open, and signs guide arriving guests. The resort signed the notice with the Dakota word Pidamaya, thank you.

Water, breakfast and small things

When policies disagree

The resort's pages sometimes give two versions of the same detail. The fitness centre's hours are one example; the spa's opening date is another. Where this guide found a conflict it shows both and suggests asking the front desk.

Room request · Dakota Dunes Resort

Ask the desk to find a room at Dakota Dunes

The form goes to the room desk of this guide, not to the resort. The desk checks the dates against the hotel's reservations team or a booking partner and answers by email with what is available and what it costs. No card details are asked for here, and sending the form books nothing.

Thank you, the request has arrived. The desk will compare the dates with the hotel's availability and write back by email. Nothing has been booked or charged.
