Dining

One fireplace, many plates

The hotel has one restaurant and bar, Moose Woods Home Fire Grill. Around it, the golf clubhouse and the casino add a few more tables.

Moose Woods Home Fire Grill

The name carries local history: Wikipedia records that the reserve was historically referred to as the Moose Woods Sioux Reserve. The resort presents the restaurant as a place to gather around flavours rooted in the heritage of Dakota territory. The room is described with stone double-sided fireplaces, views of the landscape, and a mix of booths, bar seating, lounge seating and private dining areas, plus a large outdoor terrace. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.

The menus, as posted on the resort's site on 31 October 2026, lean on prairie and Indigenous-inspired cooking with a grill at the centre. Breakfast runs from a plate called The Dakota, with eggs, local pork and apple sausage, smoked prairie bacon, maple baked beans and a choice of toast or house-baked bannock, to steel-cut oatmeal with saskatoon berry and apple compote, a breakfast poutine with braised short rib, and a smoothie made with local sea buckthorn berries. Bannock appears across the day, grilled beside soups, steaks and pasta.

Lunch and dinner move between familiar pub dishes and heavier prairie plates. There is a bison burger named the Tatanka, a wild game stew of beef and bison, Northern Waters pickerel bites, three versions of poutine grouped as The Three Sisters, and a wild boar pasta. The grill section includes signature cuts meant to be shared by two, among them a bison tomahawk and a 32-ounce bone-in ribeye, alongside single-portion tenderloin, striploin and ribeye. Desserts include a Saskatoon berry cheesecake and a flourless chocolate torte. The lounge menu is a shorter list of shareable plates: nachos with spiced bison, dry ribs, wings, calamari, hummus with flatbread.

Menus change, and this guide does not print dish prices; the current menus are linked from the resort's dining page. On its social channels the resort also noted that its chef, Darren Craddock, was cooking for Saskatoon's edition of Canada's Great Kitchen Party All-Star Invitational at Prairieland Park at the end of October 2026.

The other tables on the property

Two other places serve food on the wider property, and both are worth understanding before relying on them. In the golf season, the Taté Taŋka Resto-Lounge in the clubhouse at the Dakota Dunes Golf Links serves after a round, with televisions inside and a large outdoor patio; the resort lists it as seasonal. Inside the casino, which guests reach through an indoor connection and which admits only adults aged 19 and over, there is a sports bar with a dining room and a lounge. The casino's own dining page also carried a notice that its Tim Hortons outlet and deli were closed for renovation until further notice, as part of an expansion of the casino that is planned to run for about two years.

A narrow choice for long stays

For a weekend, one good restaurant is plenty. For a stay of four or five nights, the choice inside the resort narrows to Moose Woods, its lounge menu and, for adults, the casino's sports bar. Saskatoon's restaurants are about twenty minutes north by car, and the lobby market sells snacks, drinks, ice cream and essentials for the room.

Packages built around food

Several of the resort's current offers include meals: a Dine and Stay package with a $150 credit at Moose Woods, a Rise and Dine package with breakfast for two, a Stargaze package with breakfast after a night under the dome, and a New Year's Eve package that includes a buffet dinner in the conference centre's Wildhorse Room and a New Year's Day breakfast buffet. Their contents and dates are on the packages page.

Ask the desk to find a room at Dakota Dunes

The form goes to the room desk of this guide, not to the resort. The desk checks the dates against the hotel's reservations team or a booking partner and answers by email with what is available and what it costs. No card details are asked for here, and sending the form books nothing.

Thank you, the request has arrived. The desk will compare the dates with the hotel's availability and write back by email. Nothing has been booked or charged.
