Next door, described plainly

The casino next door, without the sales talk

The hotel is connected indoors to Dakota Dunes Casino. This page says what it is, who runs it and when it is open. It does not promote gambling.

Dakota Dunes Casino opened in August 2007 and is operated by the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority, SIGA, a non-profit organisation that runs seven casinos in the province and says it returns all of its net income to Saskatchewan communities. The hotel was built later, in 2020, and the resort describes direct, indoor access from the hotel to the casino floor. For a guest of the hotel, the casino is simply the other half of the building: a place with its own entrance, its own staff and its own rules.

Size: four sources, four numbers

The resort and the operator publish different figures for the casino. The resort's home page describes almost 95,000 square feet with 645 slot machines and 16 table games; the resort's FAQ gives more than 80,000 square feet, more than 620 slots and 18 table games; SIGA's own page for the casino lists 93,271 square feet, 591 slot machines and 60 table games; Wikipedia gives 84,000 square feet. Part of the difference is timing: SIGA completed the first phase of an expansion in December 2025, adding 11,500 square feet with an enlarged smoking room, and further phases for a high-limit area and new food and drink outlets were planned for 2026. This guide does not pick a winner and suggests treating any single number with caution.

Renovation works

The casino says it is staying open throughout a renovation and expansion expected to take about two years, with some sections closed or moved at times, some entrances temporarily shut and parking availability affected. Combined with the resort's own notice about works on the parking lot in front of the hotel entrance, guests arriving in late 2026 should expect signage and detours around the building.

Food and shows

The casino's sports bar serves a dining room until midnight and a lounge until 2:00, according to the casino's posted hours; its Tim Hortons outlet and deli were listed as closed for renovation. Concerts are staged inside the 19+ casino, and the resort sells some of them as packages with a room; dated shows are listed on the shows page.

Keeping it in proportion

Nothing about a stay at Dakota Dunes Resort requires a visit to the casino. The resort's strongest qualities are the land, the golf, the food, the cultural programme and the quiet. Guests who do go in should set a limit of time and money beforehand. SIGA runs a voluntary self-exclusion programme, from six months to five years, which covers all SIGA casinos and both SaskGaming casinos; it can be started at any SIGA casino. The responsible gambling page explains it and lists the help available.

Room request · Dakota Dunes Resort

Ask the desk to find a room at Dakota Dunes

The form goes to the room desk of this guide, not to the resort. The desk checks the dates against the hotel's reservations team or a booking partner and answers by email with what is available and what it costs. No card details are asked for here, and sending the form books nothing.

Thank you, the request has arrived. The desk will compare the dates with the hotel's availability and write back by email. Nothing has been booked or charged.
