Help and limits
Responsible gambling
The hotel shares a building with a casino. This page explains the age rule, where to find help and how to take a break.
Whitecap Dunes Review is about a hotel, not about gambling, and it does not encourage anyone to visit the casino next door. Because the casino is connected to the hotel, though, every page of this site carries the age rule and the province's help line, and this page gathers the help that is available.
- Age
- 19+ for the casino. The resort's thermal spa is also announced for guests aged 19 and over.
- Help line
- Saskatchewan Problem Gambling Help Line, 1-800-306-6789: free, confidential, 24 hours a day
- Self-exclusion
- SIGA Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program, 6 months to 5 years
The help line
The Government of Saskatchewan describes the Problem Gambling Help Line as free 24-hour help for people with gambling problems and their families, staffed by trained counsellors. It offers information, short-term counselling, crisis intervention, and referrals to problem gambling counsellors in the regional health system and to self-help groups. Counselling for people affected by gambling and for their families is free for Saskatchewan residents; nobody needs a doctor's referral, and gambling does not have to be the main problem to ask for help.

Taking a break: self-exclusion
The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority, which operates the casino beside the hotel, runs a Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program for people who decide to stop going to casinos for a while. According to SIGA, a person can enrol at any SIGA casino, or by appointment at SIGA's central office at 103 Aspen Place in Saskatoon. The person chooses a period from six months to five years, identification is checked and a photograph is taken, and the exclusion then applies to all seven SIGA casinos and both SaskGaming casinos, Casino Regina and Casino Moose Jaw. Only the person themselves can enrol; nobody can enrol someone else.

Keeping it in proportion
- Decide in advance how much time and money to spend, and stop when either runs out.
- Treat gambling as paid entertainment, never as a way to make money or win back losses.
- Do not gamble when tired, upset, or after drinking.
- Plan the stay around other things: the land, the golf, the food and the people you came with.
Nothing on this site offers or links to online gambling, and nothing here should be read as an invitation to gamble.
